Guidelines for Suicide Prevention Training
Background: 2016 SB 129 requires that every teacher, administrator, or other educational professional applying for an initial or renewed certificate must have a minimum of one hour of suicide awareness and prevention training, effective July 1, 2017. The Board is required to identify guidelines and evidence-based resources that fulfill the suicide awareness and prevention training requirement and make a list of resources available to school districts.

Background: Introduction to a new tool on www.SDMyLife.com for middle and high school students and their parents to assist with career-decision making. As students consider their career and academic goals and then develop Personal Learning Plans, the career decision making guide offers strategies for parents to use in coaching their students through the process.
