The CTE for Core Content application process for school districts has been revised to be more responsive to student need and the implications of the new graduation requirements. This work supports the philosophy behind the new requirements, which is about flexibility and relevance for students.
CTE for Core Content allows districts to offer academic credit for career and technical education courses that appropriately address core content standards (e.g., English, math) within their curriculum. This is an important process as we move forward in implementing the new graduation requirements. For example, a student may be able to earn required math credit by taking an architecture and construction course that incorporates geometry standards. The new application and process – which emphasizes flexibility, while maintaining rigor and relevance for students – can be accessed on the Department of Education’s CTE for Core Content Credit webpage.
