The Board of Education Standards will meet Sept. 17 in Aberdeen and will hold public hearings on proposed content standards for world language and school library, as well as proposed changes to Administrative Rules related to requirements for paraprofessionals.
Rules available for public comment
Proposed changes to Administrative Rules related to requirements for paraprofessionals are now available for public comment. The purpose and effect of the proposed changes is to remove the requirements for paraprofessionals to obtain and renew state-issued certificates (called permits). If the proposal passes, districts that use Title I funds to pay their paraprofessionals would still need to follow certain requirements, which would be monitored through the Title I program. Visit rules.sd.gov to view the rules and make public comment. Follow the “Department of Education” link. To make public comment, you must click on the comment deadline date – in this case: 09/13/2018
