The South Dakota Department of Education is working with a group of stakeholders to begin discussions about revisions to the ESSA State Plan, which could include changes to the accountability system. The ESSA State Plan Revision Workgroup held its first meeting March 19-20 in Pierre and is expected to meet several times in the months ahead, with the intention of submitting a revised State Plan to the U.S. Department of Education by early 2020.

The department is using this past year’s experience with producing the Report Card, and feedback collected from the field, to form the workgroup’s initial discussions. A list of group members, along with the March 19-20 agenda and meeting notes are posted on the department’s ESSA Implementation webpage.
