The state Board of Education Standards has set its tentative agenda for 2019. The first meeting is slated for Jan. 28 at the MacKay Building in Pierre. Public hearings on proposed revisions to World Language and School Library standards are on the agenda. Educators are encouraged to view the proposed standards and make public comment.

Also at its Jan. 28 meeting, the board will hold a public hearing regarding proposed changes to ARSD 24:43:01:01 and 24:43:11:09. The purpose of the proposed changes is to remove the requirement for state approval of school-created course equivalency exams and allow local schools to determine how to transcribe credit earned by course equivalency exams.
