Background: Pursuant to Board policy, the Board year shall begin January 1 and end on December 31. At the last meeting of each year, the Board shall schedule the regular Board meetings for the coming year. At the first meeting of each year, the Board shall organize by installing officers.

Subject: Board of Regents (BOR) report-Dr. Paul Turman, BOR
Background: As the High School Dual Credit program has expanded over the past two years, the Regental system is engaged in the delivery of Concurrent Credit Opportunities for South Dakota Districts. A brief report of recent activity outlining student performance and matriculation will be provided along with updates on the most recent HSDC activity. Second, a number of increased regulatory requirements have surfaced over the past month impacting Teacher Education programs in the state as well as the delivery of online education. A brief overview of these activities will be provided to the Board. Finally, the most recent Graduate Placement report has been completed for the 2014 Graduates and the Board will be provided an overview of the data available in this analysis. Updates on each of these topics and other relevant topics of mutual interest will be provided by the Board of Regents. Dr. Turman will and be available for questions from Board members following the presentation.

Background: Every seven years, an Educator Preparation Program undergoes a review to determine compliance with program standards and administrative rule. After the review, the State Board of Education may grant continued approval and accreditation to the preparation program.
In April of 2016, a joint review of Dakota State University was completed with the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). In October of 2016, the Accreditation Council of CAEP, granted seven years of continued accreditation to Dakota State University
