Mitchell Technical Institute Advanced Medical Imaging Program
Background: Mitchell Technical Institute (MTI) seeks to add an AAS degree in Advanced Medical Imaging. This degree program will provide students who already hold a primary pathway registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists the opportunity to obtain specialized skills in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) which will increase their employability and wages and fill a growing need in the state's healthcare industry. In addition, certificate options will be available for employed technologists who want to pursue advanced skills in MRI or CT.

Background: In 2014, the legislature passed House Bill 1142. Per Sections 6 through 8, an equipment fund is to be created from a refund of existing postsecondary technical institute facilities funds. In order to do this, the 2004 series technical institute bonds must be refunded and a resolution passed to issue a 2014A series bond.

Praxis Score Scale Changes
Background: New Praxis exams have been created that will replace the old exams in the areas of: Agriculture; Elementary Education Content Knowledge; Family and Consumer Sciences; Middle School Science; Sociology Content Knowledge. South Dakota has had educators and higher education representatives involved in setting cut-scores for these new exams and is asking the BOE to approve recommendations. The Praxis exam for Physical Sciences is being discontinued, and new exams are being proposed as a replacement.
