School libraries have a unique opportunity to join with thousands of other libraries and schools around the country to read the same book to as many kids as possible. This year’s selection is “The Bear Ate Your Sandwich.” A limited number of free books are still available for order from the State Library.

A limited number of libraries that register on the Jumpstart website by Sept. 27 will be provided with a free copy of the book from the South Dakota State Library. (several copies also available in Spanish)

Prove registration by sending a screenshot of your registration confirmation or by forwarding your confirmation email to Jasmine Rockwell with the State Library. Please indicate if you would prefer a copy of the book in Spanish or English when sending your registration confirmation.

• Coordinate with the libraries in your community, daycares and other local youth programs to maximize your reach. This may mean holding several programs in multiple places, but this special day is worth it!
• Send photos of your event to the South Dakota State Library for possible inclusion in a future publication.
